Big Bike Revival - next stop Bristol

Bristol Big Bike revival
Following the success of CTC’s recent Big Bike Revival pilot in Yorkshire, CTC are holding a ‘mini’ Big Bike revival this Thursday outside the Arnolfini in Bristol from 10:30 until 14:00.

Local cyclists are being encouraged to bring their bikes and get them fixed for free. Experts will be on hand to advise them on cycle training, how to get started walking or cycling, and how even the youngest cyclists can learn how to maintain their bikes.

In 2013, 42% of adults in Britain had access to a bicycle, yet 63% said they had not ridden a bicycle in the past year. Many of these long-forgotten bikes, hidden away in sheds or garages, are not ridden due to minor faults which this initiative aims to resolve.

CTC’s Big Bike Revival aims to help people liberate unused bikes by bringing them back to life and presenting new leisure and transport options to the users. The Bristol event will show visitors how to:

• Carry out basic repairs e.g. fix a puncture

• Get advice about local cycle routes, clubs or activities

• Get information about local cycle training

• Free bike check

• Free minor repairs

• Get advice on buying a recycled bike or donating an old bike
