CTC takes key role in 'Cycle Yorkshire' legacy launch

CTC is working with  'Welcome to Yorkshire' and York City Council on 'Cycle Yorkshire', an initiative to ensure that there is a 10-year legacy with a continued growth in cycling long after the banners have been taken down from the Tour de France route.

Teachers and pupils at  Kettlethorpe High School were the first to take a look at Cycle Yorkshire's Tour de France schools' resource pack, as well as chat to the new British NFTO (Not For The Ordinary) Team members Dean and Russell. The pack is aimed  at 7-14 year-olds to inspire them to cycle more often.

It's really given me a chance to map out how CTC is committed to inspiring people to cycle and promote the projects we can deliver for effective change."

Key to achieving this vision is ensuring that future generations of cyclists understand the benefits of cycling and have access to the skills, facilities and equipment to cycle confidently and safely, wherever they are. It is hoped that the 'Tour de France: Yorkshire Grand Départ, 2014  Resource Pack' will help to bring cycling to a new and younger audience.

CTC Development Officer Ginny Leonard is part of the team that is driving the legacy in Yorkshire and is pleased to be implementing CTC's core values and projects into the 10-year strategy.
