Over £1000 raised as 300 riders cycle for 'Justice for John'

John's daughters organised the ride with CTC member and local Mayor Martyn Bolt
Popular CTC Councillor John Radford was airlifted to hospital following a collision whilst he was out cycling in Holmfirth on the afternoon of the 31st of July. John's family and friends organised a ride earlier this week to thank the air ambulance crew that flew John to Leeds Royal Infirmary.

The ride was organised by CTC member and local Mayor Martyn Bolt along with John’s daughters Emma and Helen (pictured).

Martyn said that the ride drew cyclists from York, Lancashire and Cheshire, and added, "The collection tins were being filled with notes, not just coins, and we are pleased to have raised such a significant amount for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance."

The ride had a dual purpose - both fundraising and to call for justice for victims of road crashes, a cause that John has actively supported. Only recently, he was involved in CTC's Road Justice Campaign and met with the West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns Williamson to discuss the needs of cyclists locally.

West Yorkshire Police tell us all those arrested over the incident remain on police bail pending further enquiries.

John Radford is still in a serious condition in hospital - we wish you a speedy and full recovery, John.

The ride has received much press coverage
