Press Release October 17 th 2013

To add to the fun of the Grove Park pump track's launch the grand opening will have a Halloween theme.

Richard Monk CTC’s Cycling Development Officer in Essex said “We couldn’t resist some pumpkins for the Pumptrack launch which will happen on Halloween, which luckily this year falls during half-term. As well as berms and rollers to negotiate there may be some ghosts and witches to spot too!”

CTC and Colchester Borough Council have worked in partnership, with input from the local community, to build the pump track and promote cycling in the local area. The project has been funding from Developer Section 106 contributions from planning applications in the Tiptree area.
Richard added “The track at the Grove Road playing field wouldn't have been possible for CTC to build without the support of Colchester Borough Council and Section 106 funding. Alongside the building of the pump track many other very successful cycling activities have taken place in the village. We want to pay tribute to Tiptree Parish Council who had belief in our ideas to inspire young people to cycle and have supported us all the way.”
Cllr Nick Barlow, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration said, “I am pleased that we have been able to work on this community project with CTC. The project has encompassed many aspects of cycling including working with schools, cycling events, creating extra cycle parking and lead rides, which continue to take place with the aid of local volunteers. This track will be of great value to the young people in Tiptree and I hope they enjoy using the facility.“
The track, which is suitable for all ages, will open to all on Thursdsay  31st October at 11 am, with the launch event running until 2 pm. There will be coaches on hand to help those who haven't ridden a track before and bikes will be available to encourage as many young people as possible to experience the amazing jumps and turns.
Ian Warby CTC's Mountain Bike Development  Officer says “ We are  am  really looking forward to opening the trail, with its 150 meter track  it will be the envy of parks across Essex.”
