Volunteering for CTC

CTC is a community of people who believe in cycling. There are many ways for you to play an important part in this community, using your skills to help cyclists all over the UK.

Campaigning

CTC campaigns on a range of issues, fighting to keep cycling safe, accessible and fair. CTC campaigners have won many successes, but fresh challenges appear every week. The CTC campaigns team work at a national level, while our Local Campaigning Network deals with important local issues around the UK.

If you have skills in communication, politics or media, you can help with this important work.

Local rides

CTC rides happen all over the UK. CTC's local groups organise rides for everyone, from first-timers to seasoned veterans. It is CTC volunteers who make all these events possible - volunteers with the skills and passion to help others develop their cycling.

Contact our CTC Local Groups to find who you can help.

Inclusive cycling centres

We believe cycling is for everybody, including people with disabilities. We support a range of inclusive cycling centres around the UK, where trained staff and specialist equipment are on hand to help would-be cyclists who may have physical impairments or learning difficulties.

If you’d like to volunteer to help, find an inclusive cycling centre near you.

Cycle mechanics

CTC’s volunteer cycle mechanics play an important role at many events - conducting Dr Bike safety checks or supporting mass rides and sporting challenges. If you are a qualified cycle mechanic, then you can be part of the team that keeps participants' bikes safe and functional.

Ride marshals

CTC supports high-profile events like RideLondon. Marshalling at sportives and other gatherings like these is an important way to ensure their success and safety, while being part of the excitement of mass cycling.

Bike recycling centres

Bike recycling is a great way to reduce waste, develop maintenance skills and create bikes for people who might otherwise be unable to afford them. If you have skills in maintenance or administration, why not share them?

CTC National Office

Our National Office in Guildford, Surrey is a busy environment where CTC’s experts work together to promote cycling. By volunteering to support us here, you can be part of a hardworking team at the heart of a growing charity. A range of talents can be helpful, but administration, organisation, writing and communication are the main skills needed to support our Guildford team.
