Bow Roundabout in east London, one of London's most dangerous roundabouts, now has low-level traffic lights for cyclists.

As we reported back in December, the low level traffic lights at London’s Bow Roundabout were officially opened by Boris Johnston this morning.

The lights - small, cycle specific traffic signals - could permit cyclists to start early and proceed straight ahead through a junction without coming into conflict with other road users who may wish to turn left across their path. They are being considered in other locations where there is a similar conflict to that at Bow.

The launch in London is seen as a first step for a potential roll out to other areas of Britain.
